Question by Amanda: How long after a breakup before you can be friends? In your experience, how long does it generally take after a breakup before 2 people can start being friends? Does the friendship have to be initiated by the person who was broken up with, or can either person reach out? I was the one who broke up with him. It wasn’t because I don’t care about him or want him in my life, but I was just being realistic about the fact that the relationship wasn’t working anymore.

I try helping as much as possible, and they seem very grateful for it. But when I ask for relationship advice, they say they can’t help.
